two-spirit is a cultural identity exclusive to indigenous people of turtle island coined to describe specific experiences of queerness within our tribes and roles and responsibilities in our cultures tied to that experience. it's more than just having two spirits or multiple genders at once. the term "two-spirit" exists because european colonizers erased the words most of us had to describe people in our own languages and replaced them with slurs.
